OnePlus Fixes Trade-In Loophole Allowing Users to Keep Old Devices
OnePlus has fixed it’s Any Device Any Condition trade-in Program, and now its recycling partner will contact buyers to collect their old devices. This allowed buyers to use it to get a $100 discount on their purchase without sending the old device for recycling.
Under the OnePlus’ Any Device, Any Condition trade-in Program, buyers are given a $100 recycling reward when they trade in their old device regardless of its condition. Earlier this month, some buyers noticed a bug in the Program that allowed them to get the discount without sending the old device.
Shortly after, OnePlus confirmed that the issue had been fixed and its recycling partner would contact buyers to collect their old devices.
However, it needs to be clear who received the discount as part of the Program without sending the old device. We can expect that the brand will take action against them or not, and we can expect that the company may even cancel this discount.
Here are the company’s statements
“After further investigation, we have identified that recently, some users did not receive official communication from our partner to send in their old devices as part of our ANY device in ANY condition trade-in deal. The issue has been fixed and those who are interested in this trade-in deal will be able to participate in our ANY device in ANY condition trade-in deal across our current OnePlus product portfolio. Users should be aware that they will receive a separate communication from our partner to trade in their old device as part of our program”.
